SUMMER TRIP TO LONDON

I mentioned in the last couple of posts that I have been to London for a few days. I have never been before and I have always wanted to so finally, it happened! We got up early on the Monday and headed to the train station and heading down to Euston. We had our Visitor Oyster Cards at the ready and we planned the next four days on the train down.
We were staying right opposite Kensington Gardens at Hotel 43 about 3 minutes from Queensway tube station. I highly recommend it here if you are thinking of visiting. It's easy to get to, the room is lovely, it's central to everything and lovely staff too.

(Apologies, this is very photo heavy!)

When we arrived it was about noon but we could only check in at 2 so we dropped off our bags in reception and had a little walk across the road to the park. We just kept walking as we were going to see if we could go to the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain but it was closed off that day for some reason and then we noticed the Prince Albert memorial and the Royal Albert Hall across the road. We couldn't believe how close to everything we were!

On the Monday evening we went to see The Book of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre. I've wanted to see it for so long and I am so happy I have finally seen it. It is incredibly funny and the whole cast is amazing. You must go see it if you get chance to.

On Tuesday we did an incredible amount of walking. We were out for about 13 hours and so we saw literally everything! We went to Trafalgar Square, walk The Mall to Buckingham Palace to see the Change of the Guard. We saw Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye. We walked round to the Millennium Bridge and then over to St Paul's Cathedral. Then we jumped on the tube over to Tower Hill and just chilled near Tower Bridge before hunting down a Byron's Burger place. Oh boy, that was a good idea! Amazing burgers and so reasonably priced.
We then went to M&M World in Leicester Square because I'd heard about it and the whole hing just makes me laugh. There's like 4 floors of M&M memorabilia?! But you can get a load of M&Ms in a pick and mix style... including CRISPY M&Ms! Buying £10 worth of M&Ms was an excellent idea.
And then we went back to the London Eye and had some nice views of the city before crashing for the night with a brew and M&Ms!

It's fair to say that we woke on Wednesday with incredibly sore legs and feet and burnt arms. We got up early again and headed to the Natural History Museum for an early morning geek out. And then we went back to Tower Hill and had a tour of the Tower of London. After all that learning we decided to go over to Wimbledon. I'm not a tennis fan but Laura is and we figured we'd be able to find somewhere nearby to sit and have dinner but we got there and couldn't really..! :')
We sort of walked around the stadium and then had a walk around Wimbledon which is very cute and very posh!
We then went back to Oxford Street for a little browse. We went into THE Selfridges. It was beautiful and you want in straight to the perfume counters and beauty hall. I really wanted the NARS Sheer Glow after Laura got it a while back so the girl matched me up and away it came with me.
So then we went back to our hotel for an hours rest before heading over to Camden. We planned on Greek food but we couldn't find it so we ended up in Wetherspoons. But it was right by Camden Lock so it was lovely.

Thursday was home time, sadly. Our train was only at 2.45 and we only had to check out at 12 so after breakfast we got the tube to Kings Cross to visit Platform 9 & 3/4 (because we are oh so cool!). There was a man in front of us in the queue who must have been about 80. He was SO excited. He picked the Gryffindor scarf, put on the Potter glasses and got the wand and had his photo taken. I quite honestly wanted to cry a little bit - he looked so happy!
But HUFFLEPUFF FOREVER. Ahem.

And then we went back to check out and then just had a last minute sunbathe in Kensington Gardens. It was so hot and beautiful, I really did not want to come home.

So I'm very much excited for when I can go back again now.
